As many CRN Australia members will already know, CRN Australia has recently been working with Australia Post on a garment recycling project. We will also be distributing up to 200,000 number of letter trays for reuse in the coming months.
The "Value from Waste" forum was a great way to expand upon that work. Over 50 attendees came along from all areas of the waste, recycling and sustainability sectors. It was great to see a corporation show such leadership and initiative towards social and environmental sustainability. Forum attendees brainstormed ideas on how we could utilise Australia Posts extensive logistics network to keep good resources from entering the waste stream. Not only Australia Post's waste but the whole of Australia's waste streams.
Australia Post identified priority waste streams, these were textiles and e-waste . Forum attendees were split up into groups brainstormed how to use the Australia Post network to divert some of these resources from landfill. By the end of the day a number of new projects were identified which could recover some of Australia's resources which are currently being sent to landfill. We can't wait to see which projects get implemented.
