The Sort & Save Campaign was initiated through the Eaglehawk Recycle Shop and launched by the City of Greater Bendigo.

This campaign has aimed to promote the importance of sorting recyclable or reusable waste on site and taking it to the Recycle Shop for no cost rather than sending waste, contaminated to the landfill and paying for it.

The message is that waste is not only a problem of the Council but more importantly of its citizens and businesses. We all create waste therefore we all must take responsibility to dispose of it in a responsible manner.

The waste that is sorted can be recovered easily if set aside or on top of waste that cannot be recycled. It is a time saving process for both the recovery team and the public. The cost of sending the remaining nonrecoverable waste to landfill is less with the sorting procedure in place, besides a greater recovery rate away from landfill.
